Ben Hawes

With 83 England appearances to his name, Ben Hawes (born 28 June 1980) first made his international bow at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. He failed to make the squad for last summer’s EuroHockey Nations Championships, held on the same ground, but has battled his way back into the Great Britain squad, for whom he has made 62 appearances, scoring 19 goals. Hawes captained the side to Gold at the Olympic qualifiers in Chile and was a member of the Great Britain squad at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, where he scored in the opening 3–1 win over Egypt.
